MASH was a really good show

I've been watching TV at night lately and the usual list of shows includes M*A*S*H. Last nights rerun "Blood Brothers" (4/6/1981):

Hawkeye is overcome by the devotion of a terminally ill G.I., who has leukemia, for his critically wounded buddy, but he has trouble coming to terms with the fact that he can't cure the man. Meanwhile, Father Mulcahy is worried about the impending visit of a Cardinal.

Not to get all teary about a sitcom but in the end Father Mulcahy has to give his Sunday sermon and wants to impress the visiting Cardinal but was up all night consoling the terminal G.I. and has nothing prepared. He gives an impromptu sermon, only described as touching, critiquing his selfish behavior when this dieing man is completely selfless by sacrificing his own treatment to spend time with a recovering friend. It's this play of events that culminates in an unexpected message of selflessness that was impactful.

If you're interested in helping others I encourage you to get involved and volunteer with local projects such as One Brick and others.
